Energies

I don't think I am a trusting person. It takes a lot for me to trust someone. I don't feel obligated at all. I feel I've been hurt in the past from being used and getting taken advantage of, and people easily lose my confidence. And if someone loses my confidence, it is very hard [...]

Goals

I was talking to Curt tonight before Tilly and the Wall. He asked me when I finish my masters and what I was doing next. I told him I finish in May and will be looking to start my PhD. And naturally the followup is 'where?'. I've thought about it several times, but I'm unable [...]

Summer Catchup

So the summer has finally started and I'm experiencing a heat not unlike that of Florida. Highs in the 90's and lows in the high 70's. The weater is hot and humid. If there is one thing I really hate, is sweating. Needlessly. If I had it my way, I would never sweat again. Of [...]

summer break

I've been at home for summer break for almost two weeks now. I haven't done much of anything, which is not unusual, besides go to the gym. I've seen my grandparents a couple times. My brother extended his stay so we couple play more video games. I've precomposed for about 4 of my pieces, but [...]

funny ha ha

I just watched "funny ha ha", by Andrew Bujalski. It's a fantastic movie. One of the best words to describe it would be "realistic"- from the characters to the dialogue to the situations. I felt like everyone in the movie could be someone I know from Gainesville (maybe Baton Rouge). Nothing is overplay. Kate Dollenmayer, [...]

Tulsa

This past weekend was about the craziest days I've had in a long time. College Regionals was in Tulsa, Oklahoma this weekend. Half the team was driving in a van; the other half had bought separate plane tickets. 2 left in the morning, I had a flight at 3:15pm, another at 4:50, and a group [...]

Chicago

I've been in Chicago a couple days now. It's Spring Break and I have a sore throat. My sisters flew in yesterday and they cleaned my brother's apartment. So far we've seen the Chicago Symphony Art Institute of Chicago, Ikea, and several Chinatown restaurants. So far the weather has been pretty moderate. Not cold or [...]

Applebaum, Valentines

Dr. Beck is the first person to laugh out loud. The middle person is Mark Applebaum, genius composer. The clicking noise is my neighbor moving around in her seat and unrelated to the non-music. We played ultimaterockpaperscissors while listening to Dufay's Missa Se la face ay pale. Valentine's Day pictures

New Piece

Directions Score A chance piece with mallets. There's a lot of possible ways this piece could end up. But the form should cause an overall growth in density of sound, because the availibility of 'larger rest' elements. Because of the number of elements played, and the spacing of the larger rest areas, there will be [...]

Winterbreak

My flight home at the start of Winterbreak from Baton Rouge had just enough passengers for each to have their own row. Now, both flights on the way back, Tampa to Atlanta, Atlanta to Baton Rouge have been packed. I didn't have much breakfast so I've been pounding the airline peanuts and a couple packs [...]
