New Piece

Score

A chance piece with mallets. There’s a lot of possible ways this piece could end up. But the form should cause an overall growth in density of sound, because the availibility of ‘larger rest’ elements. Because of the number of elements played, and the spacing of the larger rest areas, there will be a general increase in sound in the middle of piece and less at the ends. the first ring has more silence than sound. Based on the number of elements played on each ring, 2nd ring 50% of the elements will be mostly rests. 3rd ring - 20%. 4th ring- 16%.

So an overall arc of sound density, with performers picking their own tempos and settings- the floor, their lap, their shoes. Being performed March 7th.

End of the semester

I’m back in Florida. I haven’t been back in 4 months. Gloria came back last night- she’s the last one to come back. It’s been really weird living without my siblings.

I did pretty well this semester and I’m really glad to be back home. I’ve been completely relaxing, playing video games, seeing my grandparents. I’ve bought all my Christmas presents, luckily in 3 days. I don’t really want much. I don’t really need much.

There was another Dance Fever the day before I left in Baton Rouge. It’s been pretty consistent, with a few new people. I’m really hoping they give me a consistent day of the week next semester. Next semester is going to be pretty busy- more classes, college ultimate season, working for my professor, and music. I’m looking to have 4-5 performances next semester, including a Valentine’s Day Love Song, Orchestral reading, my Woodwind quintet, Oboe+Orchestra piece, and String Quartet.

My family is going to the Outback bowl. It’s going my parents first college football game and (i think) my sisters’ second football game.

I got a 3.8 this semester.
